Swansea Can Edge Closer To Safety With Low-scoring Victory At Villa’s Expense

Swansea City v Aston Villa (Saturday, 19th March 2016, 5.30pm KO)

Swansea City will be desperate to ensure three-points here to edge them ever closer to safety. Were they to lose at home to Aston Villa it would be a massive psychological blow that would provide a huge boost to those below them in having another team dragged back towards the bottom four.

Villa are down. The mathematics might not have confirmed it as yet, but there is clearly no belief in the ranks and the quality just isn’t there anyway. They’ve lost five Premier League games on the spin, conceding 17 goals and scoring just two in the process. The white flag was raised long ago.

Swansea are not the most prolific team in front of goal and have only found the back of the net 14 times in 15 matches at the Liberty Stadium. They may not need many goals to see off Villa and a victory by any means at this stage of the season is all that matters to Swansea.

Swansea haven’t scored more than two goals in any Premier League game this season. They should win this, but it’s unlikely to be high-scoring.
