Two selections from Quentin Franks Racing…..
14:00 Ayr- Stylish Boy
2pts win 11/4 William Hill, Coral, Paddy Power or Sky Bet
Shaped well after being slowly away on debut got caught further back than ideal in a steadily run maiden but made good late headway under an educational ride, action suggests todays easier ground should bring about further improvement. The 6f on debut looked too sharp despite the moderate early gallop he was outpaced and will be better suited by todays 7f. I feel Dutch Heiress’ form is being overplayed she put her experience to good use in leading a steadily run race against a field made up of largely newcomers and that run has been overated by the market in my opinion. The Mark Johnston newcomer is obviously of interest given how the yards 2yos have been running but his sire Cape Cross generally underperforms as a sire first time out, Stylish Boy is overpriced enough to warrant a 2pt bet.
20:40 Wolverhampton- Le Notre
2pts win 7/4 William Hill, Coral, Ladbrokes or Betfred, 13/8 General
I am keen to oppose the newcomer Tasselled who’s sire Tobougg has an awful record with his first time out runners 9-317 (2.8% S/R, 0.63 A/E) across all surfaces just factoring the all weather 2-98 (2.0% S/R, 0.44 A/E) and none of her siblings won first time out either. Le Notre was well backed on debut but to green to do himself justice, slowly away , green in the closing stages but gradually learning his job and running on shaping as if the initial racecourse experience and a step up in trip would suit. He steps up a furlong in trip in what on paper looks a very poor race and i made him 11/10 chance giving us a 11.26% perceived edge at the current odds.
