With the Cricket World T20 coming up next week, i thought i’d share a few selections before the warm up games effect the prices and get them shared whilst they’re value.
Top England Batsman – J Buttler 12/1 Betfred, Sportingbet + Winner
Top New Zealand Batsman – B McCullum 4/1 Betfred, Paddy Power + Will Hill
Top South Africa Batsman – F Du Plessis 6/1 Betfred
Top Australian Bowler – M Starc – 9/2 Bet365 + Betfred – was 5/1 PP last night but into 11/4
I picked these out last night and sadly missed out on 5/1 on Starc, but 9/2 is still available and the price just got even better as Mitchell Johnson out injured so makes Starc a lot price. He’s a great bowler and bowls at the death for Australia so will look to take alot of cheap wickets when the batsman going for it at the end.
Jos Buttler seems a good price, England are expected to struggle in the tournament but if their players turn up, they’re more than capable of winning it. There’s a lot of strong sides in this t20 but anyone can beat anyone if they play to their full potential. Buttler comes in down the order for England hence the 12/1, but it’s not often he doesn’t bat. He got a promotion to 5 last game and that alone should be odds of around 6/1. Buttler is very good player and scores particular quickly. If he came in with 5 overs to go he’s more than capable of scoring a quick 30. Also England find themselves a few wickets down quite often so i’m expecting him to need to bat a fair few overs and he’s shown in the past when given the time to bat, he can go on and make a fair score.
Faf Du Plessis is a very generous price, showed in the IPL in recent years he can be a dangerous player in this format. 6/1 seems too big for a player coming in at 3. He can play the shots if needed but can also construct an innings.
Brendon McCullum is one of the star players for New Zealand. He’s the forth highest runscorer in the history of t20, averaging over 32 runs at a strike rate of 135. So this shows he’s a consistant scorer at a fast rate. 4/1 is a good price for him opening the batting as once he gets going he can tear bowling attacks apart. He already has 2 t20 international centuries to his name and a career 5 in all domestic games, which is the (joint) second highest amount of centuries behind Chris Gayle, who has 11.
