Football: Where There’s Goals There’s Brass

The ‘Match Result and Both Teams To Score’ combined market seems to be the popular bet at the moment with a lot of punters.

One lucky punter placed a £50 six-fold winning just over £140k!  Now this won’t happen every day but if you fancy a side to win and they’re known for scoring goals as well as conceding a few, then it’s a really good bet.

There can be some good value single bets in this market. For example Germany in the World Cup Qualifiers on Tuesday night were around 8/11 to win but if you had them to win and both teams to score in the game, you could’ve got 11/4.  So there is some value to be had.  I’ve had a look at this market and found a bit of value for the weekend…

In League Two there seems to be a few goals shipped about and Morecambe face AFC Wimbledon. This is a game I’d expect there to be a few goals.  Morecambe are at home and currently sit in 4th place and are playing well and scoring goals (19) but they are also liable to concede (14 in their 11 league games). At 10/3 (BetVictor) for Morecambe to win the game and both teams to score I believe this is good value.

Also in League Two Oxford United are away to bottom of the table Accrington Stanley.  Accrington have failed to win all season and face a tough task against third place Oxford, so this should be a routine win for Oxford, who can be backed at even money. This seem a good value bet, but Accrington to score one goal isn’t out of the equation. So to get 16/5 (William Hill) for Oxford to win and both teams to score, I feel this also represents good value.  Oxford concede on average more than a goal a game, whilst scoring around two.

In the Championship this weekend Blackburn Rovers are at home to Charlton Athletic with the home side Even money favourites to win, however in the league they are conceding a goal a game.

Playing lowly Charlton you’d expect Blackburn to come out on top. So with odds of 31/10 available at BetVictor for “Match Result & Both Teams To Score” it’s a better price than Evens on just the Blackburn win.  Both Teams To Score alone is around 4/5 generally so you’re getting a good price.

Finally, the Saturday evening Premier League fixture sees Manchester City travel to east London as they face West Ham. Man City will feel they have underachieved so far, but they’re only 3pts off league leaders Arsenal.  City have scored plenty of goals (17) in their opening 7 games but it’s conceding that has let them down.  Best price City are 8/11 to win away, but their last 3 fixtures has seen both sides score, so at 5/2 (BetVictor) i think this represents good value for City to win and both sides to score.

Recommendations

I’d advise 4 single bets and if one comes in you’ve pretty much got your money back

West Ham v Man City – Match Result and Both Teams To Score – Man City 5/2 BetVictor

Blackburn v Charlton – MR + BTTS – Blackburn 31/10 BetVictor

Accrington v Oxford – MR + BTTS – Oxford 16/5 William Hill

Morecambe v Wimbledon – MR + BTTS – Morecambe 10/3 BetVictor

Not great, the sides didn’t even win and Morecambe game was the only btts. Blackburn lost 1-0, Oxford failed to score against lowly accrington and Morecambe were 1-0 up and ended up drawing 1-1. It’s all on Man City to get some cash back.
