A LESSON IN VALUE
If you’ve been a punter for any time at all you will have been told or read numerous times that you have to find value with your bets.
You may have also read that you shouldn’t even bet the horse you think is most likely to win, you should bet the one that is available at the best value price.
Human nature makes it hard for us to see beyond the most likely winner, but we can train ourselves to operate the value way.
Today I have a live example of this in action from the three bets that Rory Delargy has for his members.
One race with two horses that Rory Delargy see’s as having an almost equal chance, but one is 4/1 and one is 16/1.
The value play is the 16/1 chance and with 9 running the each-way play is selected.
Here’s what Rory told his members…
Madeleine Bond wasn’t my first pick in this handicap, and I wasn’t far off making Mazyoun a bet, but there is little between them on form having finished second and third in a C&D handicap last time. The filly is not only better off at the weights to the tune of 2lb, but also has the assistance of Jason Watson’s 3lb claim, which is gold dust at present. That makes them hard to separate, but one is 4/1 and the other 16/1 (presumably the second-string bias kicking in), and therefore I’m going to back her each-way to small stakes.
Rory has two other selections today and if you trial his service today you can get immediate access to them.

Today’s Selection
5:10 Kempton – Madeleine Bond – each way bet 16/1 general price (1/5 odds 3 places)
All the best
